STEP 4:

Learn about the breathwork & how to prepare

ABOUT THE BREATHWORK

  • This specific breathwork technique is a simple 3-part breathing technique done through the mouth while lying down. This is an active meditation that quickly changes the chemistry in your body. It takes you out of your head and into the wisdom of your body.

This is an opportunity for a deep release of stress, grief, and any emotions your body absorbed so you could persevere. The more intention you have around what you want to release, the more your body will respond to you.

  • Overall, this extended breathwork technique is activating your body on many levels. You may feel tingling, or energy in certain points in your body as and endorphins cascade through your body.

Be aware that you might feel things - emotions, sensations throughout the body, blocked energy… This is good! Emotions can bubble up even when you don’t expect them, so don’t try to shove them down! You’re here to release them and your body is in the perfect position to LET THEM GO. Whether that’s crying, screaming (into a blanket, ideally), yawning, shaking a limb… whatever it takes to release what’s coming up for you in the session.

You may feel sensations in your body that can sometimes become strong, sometimes light. Just be aware of where you’re feeling it, take note. You can always back off from your pace if you are feeling any pain or discomfort, but trust your body. You are safe here. All sensations are normal and are looked as messages from your body’s wisdom. We’ll have time to discuss and integrate after the session.

You’ll always be aware of yourself and your surroundings throughout the experience, even if you feel a change in energy - your body is dropping into a deeper state of consciousness.

By joining this event, you agree to manage your health and what you need on your own. While I have eyes on you, you know yourself and what you need in that moment the best!

    • During the breathwork, you’ll be lying down flat if that’s accessible for you. This can be on the floor on a yoga mat, in a bed, or a couch. I don’t suggest a big pillow under your head- we want your so your spine pretty aligned, but a folded thin blanket or cushion works great!

    • A pillow or bolster under your knees is a nice way to support your low back

    • Wear comfortable clothes. I like to wear socks and a sweater or sweatshirt so I’m cozy, but some people tend to get hot - you only know once you try!

    • Bring a blanket to cover yourself in case you get cold.

    • Have an eye pillow or a cloth to cover your eyes.

    • Extra tip: make your space special! Tidy up, set the vibe, create a mini alter by setting up some special items like photos of loved ones or items from nature, light a candle, or maybe have some aromatherapy like sage, palo santo, or essential oils to bring you into a deeper sensory space before we breathe. Be intentional.
